Benefits to members

Forum Virium Helsinki hosts several open events designed to highlight themes of the day and to network. In addition to these events, it offers its members the following services.

Project groundwork and planning

Forum Virium Helsinki’s main area of activity is project development. Forum Virium Helsinki’s role varies from project conceptualisation and brainstorming to project planning and management.

Development groups

At Forum Virium Helsinki, there is a development group for the Media and Smart City project areas. These meeting are themed with current issues and subjects, and also expert presentations are introduced. There is a separate group focused on Forum Virium Helsinki’s communications. This group consists of communications specialists from member companies and partners.  

Open data working group

The working group promotes the opening of public-sector data. It has representatives from Elisa, Tivit Ltd, the Ministry of Transport and Communications, Sitra, Logica, the Ministry of Employment and the Economy, the City of Helsinki and Forum Virium Helsinki. Outside experts are invited to speak at the meetings.

Roadshows

Forum Virium Helsinki’s core team pays visits to member companies and organisations to discuss their wishes for projects and membership activities. During these visits, an overview of Forum Virium Helsinki is given, key projects are presented and future cooperation is discussed. The content of the visits is planned with the members.  

The Icebreaker

Once a year, Forum Virium Helsinki organises an icebreaker guest evening hosted by Mayor of Helsinki Jussi Pajunen and Forum Virium Helsinki CEO Jarmo Eskelinen. In 2010, the evening event was held for a third time at Helsinki City Hall. The theme for the evening was open data, with keynote speaker state IT director Mr. Yrjö Benson.
