Member and Network Services

Forum Virium Helsinki organizes a variety of different events as part of its network services on a yearly basis. The events are designed to make ideas and people collide, and to generate valuable new B2B relationships. Forum Virium Helsinki also tests new event concepts.

Annual seminar

The annual seminar highlights the progress in Forum Virium Helsinki’s current projects, spiced with interesting international speakers and service demonstrations from companies in Forum Virium Helsinki’s cooperation network. Attracting upwards of 200 participants, the annual seminar follows a specific, industry-relevant theme, such as Social Media or User-Driven Digital Services and Open Data.

Open Forums

Open Forum events are compact two-hour morning meetings that highlight interesting and current topics. Aimed at SME companies and larger companies alike, free-of-charge Open Forums gather audience from Forum Virium Helsinki’s network. The events are organised in co-operation with Innovative Growth Companies -project.  

Co-operation seminars

Forum Virium Helsinki has produced several seminars in the Helsinki metropolitan area in collaboration with local and international organizations. In 2010, Forum Virium Helsinki coordinated the Connected Smart Cities conference together with the City of Helsinki and EU funded Fireball-project. During 2007-2009, the Living Lab Innovations seminar series was organized in collaboration with Greater Helsinki Promotion and the Helsinki Living Lab, plus several cooperation partners, such as Culminatum Innovation, the Center for Knowledge and Innovation Research at Helsinki School of Economics (CKIR), and Tekes - the Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation.

The Ice Breaker

The Ice Breaker is a dinner reception hosted jointly by Forum Virium Helsinki and the City of Helsinki. Each year,
approximately 50 corporate guests involved in Forum Virium Helsinki’s network are invited to participate in the event. The theme varies from year to year. Some notable themes from previous years include Community and Wellbeing, Open Data, Development of Digital Services, and the City as Innovations Accelerator.

Events abroad

Forum Virium Helsinki has also co-produced several events abroad. These include the Helsinki Metropolitan Area Innovation Days at Shanghai Expo in October 2010, and Paris - Helsinki: Cities as Living Laboratories seminar in Paris during April 2008.

Company visits and networking

In addition to events, Forum Virium Helsinki also produces roadshow visits and introduces international experts to its member companies. We also host workshops and networking events with alternating themes for our wider contact network.
