An acceleration initiative CreatiFI has selected the top 60 European start-ups and SMEs who will get funding and business development support. Negotiation phase with companies is done at the moment and the names of the awarded companies will be published when agreements are finalized.

Within the programme entrepreneurs get help for business development and up to 50,000€ grant for a prototype development. CreatiFI aims to enhance the development and emerge of applications based on FIWARE open source technology components.

”The program received over 300 applications representing a wide variety of business ideas in creative industry. ”We are very pleased we got so many good applications,” tells CreatiFI project coordinator Ingrid Willems from iMinds. ”The selected candidates develop internet and smart phone applications related e.g. for gaming, tourism, and smart city services.”

In the first phase of CreatiFI, entrepreneurs turn their business idea into a minimum viable product or a prototype. In September 2015, CreatiFI launches the second phase focusing on the commercialisation of a prototype. Call 2 is open to all European start-ups and SMEs in creative industry and provides selected companies up to 100,000 € grant for a commercialisation stage.

CreatiFI is an acceleration initiative inside the FIWARE EU program which offers through competitive open calls, opportunities (e.g., funding, support services, cloud infrastructure and middleware) to SME’s, web entrepreneurs and individuals working in the Creative Industry sector to shift innovative ideas into new applications and services.
