World Design Capital Helsinki 2012 organised an open brainstorming day on Saturday, 22 May. A total of over 100 brainstorming events took place in Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa, Kauniainen and Lahti, the five municipalities participating in the design year.
Forum Virium Helsinki participated that day by inviting city residents to brainstorm ideas on Stadi.TV and its content. A crack team of audio-visual professionals with plenty of ideas for the forthcoming city TV channel found their way to Helsinki City Hall to record the wealth of new ideas.
The two-hour discussion produced numerous programme ideas such as shows election reviews, community evenings for local residents, karaoke TV and local food and recipes. In addition, it was suggested that content could be developed around everyday design as there is already considerable interest in programmes focused on design. The idea of a Secret Helsinki programme was also raised, in which viewers would be allowed a peek into places ordinarily out of bounds to the average citizen. It There was also some hoped that Stadi.TV could provide programmes for immigrants and foreigners.
“Those involved in the discussion thought it was important for the television production’s organisation to be kept as streamlined as possible in a network-based TV channel like Stadi.TV. There was no desire to see the same media content on Stadi.TV as on other channels. Local content is important,” confirmed Stadi.TV’s producer Teppo Hudson, who led the brainstorming event.
According to Hudson, the day was an overwhelming success as it produced numerous excellent, viable ideas. “Now we’re in a great position to move forward and develop a city TV channel that belongs to everyone. Many thanks to all those involved!”
Stadi.TV is constantly evolving. In the future, any new ideas to further improve Stadi.TV can be sent to Producer Teppo Hudson at teppo.hudson(at)forumvirium.fi.
