Express to connect

Reminiscending increases the mental alertness of elderly people, enhancing their entire quality of life. The service being developed in the Express to Connect project gives them an opportunity to remember days gone by by allowing personal storytelling.

The service is based on a proven concept - the Storytable service developed by the Waag Society in Holland. It is widely used in Dutch retirement and residential homes and it has been developed with and for elderly people to share stories and interact with each other.

The objective of this project is to develop, test and deploy a personal version of the Storytable. It will be a web service which stimulates and facilitates personal storytelling and thereby enriches the lives of elderly people.

More quality in the lives of aging people

The Express to Connect project is part of the European Ambient Assisted Living Joint Programme. Its objective is to enhance  older people’s quality of life and strengthen the industrial base in Europe through the use of information and communication technologies. 

The partners in the project, which will be implemented between 2010 and 2012, are Forum Virium Helsinki, Copenhagen Living Lab, the Waag Society, Laurea University of Applied Sciences from Finland, Halmstad University and Halmstad municipality from Sweden, Substanz from Denmark, Heutink and Verhalentafel BV from Holland, and the Active Seniors Association of Finland.
