Member and Network Services

On a yearly basis, Forum Virium Helsinki organises a variety of different events for its members and the Finnish business community as a whole. The events are designed to make ideas and people collide, and to generate valuable new B2B relationships. Forum Virium Helsinki also creates new types of events.

Annual seminar

The annual seminar highlights the progress in Forum Virium Helsinki’s current projects, spiced with interesting international speakers and service demonstrations from companies in Forum Virium Helsinki’s cooperation network. Attracting upwards of 200 participants, the annual seminar follows a specific, industry-relevant theme, such as Social Media or User-Driven Digital Services.
Living Lab Innovations

The Living Lab Innovations seminar has been organised in collaboration with Greater Helsinki Promotion and Helsinki Living Lab since 2007. Several cooperation partners, such as Culminatum Innovation, the Center for Knowledge and Innovation Research at Helsinki School of Economics (CKIR), and Tekes - the Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation, have contributed to the event programme. The objective of this international seminar is to present topical Living Lab examples to the audience which consists of representatives of Finnish companies and the Finnish public sector. Foreign visitors for example from the European Network of Living Labs have also participated in the seminar.

The Ice Breaker

The Ice Breaker is a dinner hosted jointly by Forum Virium Helsinki and the City of Helsinki. Each year, approximately 50 corporate guests involved in Forum Virium Helsinki’s network are invited
to participate in this event. The theme varies from year to year. Some notable themes from previous years have included Development of Digital Services and The Role of the City as an Accelerator of Innovations.

Events abroad

Forum Virium Helsinki has also coproduced several events abroad. One well-received example was the Paris - Helsinki: Cities as Living Laboratories event which was part of the Helsinki à St. Sulpice theme week arranged in Paris in April 2008.

Company visits and networking

Forum Virium Helsinki organises roadshow visits to its member companies and arranges workshops and network- ing events with different themes for its wider network. Introducing international specialists to member companies is also included among Forum Virium Helsinki’s activities.

In April 2009, the City of Helsinki invited twelve experts from Washington DC as part of the MyHelsinki project. Forum Virium Helsinki hosted technology expert Peter Corbett, organising several meetings and networking events during his week long stay in the capital.

Since the spring of 2009, members have also had access to Piknik, an online meeting place for communicating, sharing material and ideas, and continuing discussions started in the meetings.
